SÖDERTÄLJE, Sweden, Sept. 17, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Scania is launching Venture & New Business China (VNBC), a dedicated platform to identify, develop and pilot new business opportunities in China through strategic partnerships, customer collaborations and new ventures. Kelly Fu has been appointed Regional Lead for China Venture & New Business, Scania Group.
VNBC is part of Scania's continued long-term development in China. It will support Scania Group China's growth today while building the capabilities needed to strengthen Scania's position in an increasingly electrified and autonomous transport ecosystem in China over time. Through partnerships, VNBC will enable Scania to rapidly test technologies and business models, while building the knowledge and experience needed to shape future transport solutions.
VNBC will initially focus on areas with strong potential to transform heavy transport, including energy transition and autonomous transport. This includes building ecosystem partnerships and exploring new business models needed to bring future solutions to market.
The initiative builds on Scania's growing presence and capabilities in China. With the Scania and NEXT ERA commercial offerings, as well as local capabilities in research and development, procurement and production, Scania has a broader foundation for developing solutions close to Chinese customers. The Nantong and Rugao region, where Scania's third industrial production hub is located, will provide an important environment for testing and piloting new solutions together with customers and partners. VNBC will also work with local governments and ecosystem partners across China to explore opportunities for collaboration.
"China combines the scale of the world's largest truck market with one of the world's fastest-moving technology and innovation landscapes," says Kelly Fu. "For Scania, that creates an opportunity not only to serve customers here but also to build new solutions together with local partners. We will start with local customer needs, bring together complementary capabilities, test solutions in the market and scale those that create real commercial value."
"Venture & New Business has a dual role in China. We support Scania Group China's growth today, while building the capabilities needed to strengthen our position in an increasingly electrified and autonomous transport ecosystem over time. By working with partners, we can rapidly test technologies and business models in real-world applications, build valuable insights and use those learnings to shape the transport solutions of the future," says Gustaf Sundell, Executive Vice President and Head of Ventures and New Business at Scania.
Kelly brings extensive experience from investment banking, digital mobility, commercial-vehicle technology, and new business building. She spent six years at DiDi, including as General Manager of its Beijing Office. She also worked in investment at G7, where she played a key role in the company's merger with E6. Most recently, she has focused on start-ups and emerging solutions within heavy-duty battery-electric and hydrogen transport.
"Scania's development in China is a long-term commitment," says Camilla Dewoon, Executive Vice President of Scania Group and Head of Scania Group China. "China is an important market for Scania, both commercially and strategically. Kelly's experience across investment, digital transport and emerging technologies brings a strong combination of perspectives to Venture & New Business. VNBC gives us a dedicated platform to work with customers, partners and the wider ecosystem to explore new opportunities and develop solutions for the future of transport. By combining local insight with Scania's global capabilities, we can turn insights into action, build new partnerships and help accelerate future transport solutions."
