Longtime healthcare leader, Eric Liston, has been selected as regional president for Intermountain Health’s Canyons Region, which includes all Intermountain hospitals, clinics, and community programs from Central Utah north into Idaho.

Liston has worked for Intermountain Health for 25 years, previously serving as vice president and chief clinical shared services officer.

Liston replaces Sue Robel, who has served as president of Intermountain’s Canyons Region for the past four years. Robel, who retires on February 15, served as Intermountain’s chief nursing officer from 2019 until 2022, then as president of Intermountain’s Canyons Region from 2022 until 2026.

“We’re grateful for Sue’s exceptional leadership and service over the years and wish her the best in this next phase of her life,” said Rob Allen, president and CEO of Intermountain Health. “We’re excited to have Eric step into this important role. Eric’s breadth of leadership experience across Intermountain has given him a deep understanding of the value and impact of an integrated health system working together for the benefit of our patients and the communities we serve.”

As president of Intermountain Health’s Canyons Region, Liston will guide clinical and business operations across hospitals, clinics, and community programs; foster integrated delivery and proactive care; and strengthen trusted relationships with caregivers, physicians, trustees, and community partners.

Liston will also serve on Intermountain’s Enterprise Leadership Team and System Operations Council, lead the Canyons Region Executive Team, and act as board liaison to support governance across the region.

Additionally, he will work closely with key Intermountain departments, including Enterprise Shared Services, Clinical Shared Services, and Select Health insurance, to leverage system capabilities and advance outcomes for patients, members, and communities.

“I am truly honored, humbled, and excited to serve as president of Intermountain Canyons Region and wholeheartedly embrace the opportunity to continue the legacy of clinical excellence and mission-driven results for our communities,” said Liston. “I am passionate about the amazing work we do as an organization and am thrilled to collaborate with our caregivers to make a meaningful impact on people’s lives and serve our communities.”

A native of Orem, Utah, Liston has a master’s degree in management with an emphasis in health services administration from Troy University. He is active in his local community, schools, and church. In his free time, he also enjoys cycling, hiking, and supporting his children in their extracurricular activities.
