Through the partnership, Blend compounds and ships Bummed's proprietary prescription topical formulations for hemorrhoids, anal fissures, and anal itching directly to patients' doors.
Hemorrhoids are among the most common conditions in medicine: about 75% of Americans will experience hemorrhoidal symptoms at some point in their lives. Yet many people delay care because the topic feels too embarrassing to raise with a doctor, or because they have limited access to specialists and compounding pharmacies.
Given the sensitive and often painful nature of hemorrhoids and fissures, Bummed needed a pharmacy partner that understood the urgency of its patients' needs. Blend's provider dashboard gives Bummed real-time visibility into the status of every order, automates routine workflows, tracks upcoming refills, and manages provider licensing in one place. The result is faster delivery for patients, with an average same-day turnaround from prescription to shipment. The dashboard also houses all of Bummed's proprietary formulations, developed by colorectal surgeon and Bummed Chief Medical Officer Dr. Carmen Fong.
Bummed offers prescription options designed for different needs: Long-Acting Hemorrhoid & Fissure Rx Cream with diltiazem, Rapid Relief Hemorrhoid & Fissure Rx Cream with nitroglycerin, Sensitive Care Hemorrhoid & Fissure Rx Cream with nifedipine, and Anti-Itch Pruritus Ani Rx Cream with clotrimazole and hydrocortisone.
Blend was founded by Ben Holber and Ryan Hambley, who have built telehealth and pharmacy businesses together since 2012. Their first company, Apostrophe, an online dermatology platform and compounding pharmacy, was acquired by Hims & Hers in 2021. For Blend, they teamed up with Dan DiStefano, PharmD, who served as Hims & Hers' first pharmacist and opened and led its 302,000-square-foot pharmacy, and John Davi, who built software at scale for companies including Mindbody and Regis.
